When it comes to capturing the magic of your Hilton Head photography session, I offer two breathtaking options for photography sessions: the enchanting live oak tree locations or the stunning beach. Each setting has its unique charm, and I’m here to help you decide which might be the perfect backdrop for your photos.
The Romance of Live Oak Trees
Hilton Head’s live oak tree locations are nothing short of magical. These timeless spots feature majestic trees draped in Spanish moss, creating a romantic and serene atmosphere. I personally photograph clients at Honeyhorn Plantation or Six Oaks Park in Sea Pines.
Here are some reasons why you might choose these locations:
Flexibility with Timing: Unlike the beach, where we’re tied to the sunset hour, oak tree sessions offer more timing flexibility to fit your schedule. I shoot typically mid morning or late afternoon/early evening.
Wind-Friendly Environment: These spots are naturally shielded from the wind, making it easier to maintain perfect hair and clothing throughout the session.
Less Messy Distractions: Sand & the ocean can be tricky to deal with, especially when you’re dressed up for photos. The oak tree settings keep things simple and clean & less chance of kiddos bee-lining to the ocean! 🙂
Weather Rescheduling: If the weather takes an unexpected turn, oak tree locations are easier to reschedule since we’re not chasing the perfect sunset.
Whether you’re celebrating an engagement, anniversary, or family milestone, the live oak trees provide a classic and timeless backdrop that adds an ethereal, lowcountry touch to your photos.
The Beauty of the Beach
There’s something undeniably captivating about Hilton Head’s beaches, especially at sunset. I can never tire of photographing families & couples enjoying the island life. The vibrant hues of the setting sun, the soft ocean breeze, and the endless horizon make this location a dream for photography. I come to the beach access that my clients are staying at if it will work well for a photo session. However, I can also recommend a Hilton Head beach. I have shot at practically EVERY Hilton Head Island beach :).
Here’s why you might choose the beach:
Stunning Sunsets: There’s no denying the magic of the golden hour on the beach. The warm, glowing light creates a dreamy and dramatic effect for your photos.
Unique Coastal Vibes& Variety of Setting: If you love the ocean and the idea of capturing its essence in your photos, the beach is the perfect choice. We can take photos of the sea oats/dunes and pathway to the beach and then end with our toes in the water with crashing waves or perhaps your reflections at low tide in the sand.
Last-Minute Flexibility: While wind can sometimes be a factor on the beach, I always fully refund sessions if you choose to opt out due to gusty conditions. Additionally, we can easily pivot to one of the oak tree locations if needed. I leave open all my SUNRISE spots for rescheduling sunset sessions so worst case we can do the next morning if the client would like.
